About ME
_
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Certified EMDR Therapist
I’m Carolyn Morris, LCSW, and my passion is helping people rise from the challenges that have weighed them down. At Phoenix Rising Wellness, I bring decades of experience in trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, DID, and identity work, along with advanced training in EMDR and extensive experience providing licensure supervision. I offer both expertise and genuine compassion, meeting you where you are and guiding you toward renewed strength, clarity, and hope. If you’re ready to move beyond simply surviving, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey to healing.

This Face
I’ve been a therapist for over 20 years—though realistically, I’ve been doing this in some form my whole life. I’ve never been someone who can listen to the most ridiculous excuses and lies we tell ourselves without making that face. I’m unapologetically neurospicy, and I’m raising two humans who are, too! Using that fire within, I not only help motivate but also break the tension when needed—with a well-timed pun or a 90s pop culture metaphor that somehow fits our conversation perfectly. I’ll tell you the truth, even if no one else will. More importantly, I’ll support you in a way that makes you want to uncover all the truths and work like hell to feel the way you deserve to feel. No—not like crap! Stop it!! To feel good, strong, healthy, and sane—because you do deserve that.
I opened Phoenix Rising Wellness in 2021, after the inferno of the pandemic and with an intense desire to create the safe space we all needed—on my own terms. I believe healing is about transformation—about rising from the ashes with renewed strength and hope.
In addition to therapy, I also offer in-depth consultation, grounded in more than 18 years of experience supervising emerging clinicians and 11 years of direct EMDR practice with challenging populations, including first responders, people with addictions, and survivors of cult abuse. I am a strong advocate and proud member of the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities.
Known for my expertise in complex trauma presentations, I provide a supportive, insightful space for therapists to deepen their skills and clinical understanding of the EMDR Standard Protocol. I often integrate IFS, Somatic Psychotherapy, and Structural Dissociation Theory into my practice with a straightforward, supportive approach to consultation. I am an energetic and enthusiastic mentor who helps you build confidence, refine your approach, and achieve lasting success with your clients. Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or new to EMDR, my guidance is invaluable for mastering EMDR therapy and preparing for the complexities of the work.

Why the Phoenix
_
From Ashes to Strength: The Phoenix as a Symbol for Your Growth
The phoenix is more than just a mythical bird—it’s a powerful symbol of transformation, resilience, and hope. Just as the phoenix rises from its own ashes, therapy can help you emerge from the pain, trauma, and struggles that have weighed you down. It represents the courage to face what’s difficult, the strength to heal, and the possibility of renewal. At Phoenix Rising Wellness, I guide you through that process, helping you reclaim your life, rebuild your sense of self, and rise stronger than ever. Your journey may begin in the ashes, but it can lead to a life of light, empowerment, and lasting change if you choose to rise.

What to Expect & How to Move Forward
1
Getting started:
Begin by scheduling a free consultation. We’ll meet over the phone or on a video call, where you’ll have the opportunity to briefly share what you want to work on and what you hope to gain from our time together. You’ll also get a sense of my approach and style so you can decide if we’re a good fit. If you’re ready to move forward, I’ll send you intake forms, and once those are complete, we’ll schedule your first session.
2
Assessment sessions:
In our first few sessions, we’ll work together to outline what’s happening in your life that you’d like to change, how you experience the world, and where you’ve come from. We’ll talk about your family, your strengths, and the obstacles you encounter regularly. Once we’ve explored your current and past experiences, we’ll collaborate to set goals and map out a plan for achieving them.

3
Moving forward:
By this point, you’ll feel confident about our fit, and we’ll establish a session frequency that works best for your needs and schedule. Once we’ve set that rhythm, if a conflict arises, you can provide 24 hours’ notice. Instead of canceling, we’ll simply reschedule to another day or time—sometimes even doubling up sessions the week before or after, if needed.
